McLaren was the first team to present its car for the 2025 Formula 1 season, the MCL39, which made its debut at Silverstone with a special camouflage paint in shades of papaya and black.

After winning the Constructors’ title in 2024, the team seeks to repeat its success, while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri aim for their first title as drivers. The car was tested by Norris in the morning and by Piastri in the afternoon, with both completing 125 miles before the official tests in Bahrain. The final version of the paint will be revealed at the F1 75 Live event at the O2 Arena in London.

The drivers expressed optimism for the season, with Norris highlighting the growing competitiveness of F1 and the need to evolve in order to retain the Constructors’ title and chase the Drivers’ title. Piastri, on the other hand, emphasized his development after two years in the category and his motivation to achieve more wins.

McLaren CEO Zak Brown acknowledged that all teams have progressed over the winter, and that the team’s real position on the grid will only be assessed after the first qualifying in Australia.

Team principal Andrea Stella reinforced that McLaren needs to stay focused in the face of fierce competition and highlighted the lessons from the past year as essential for continued progress.

The team is preparing for the preseason tests in Bahrain, between February 26 and 28, ahead of the official start of the championship on March 16 with the Australian Grand Prix, Piastri’s home race.
